On Fifth Anniversary of Pope Francis’ Visit to Lampedusa on July 8, 2013
Despite technically being on ‘summer break,’ Pope Francis will celebrate a Mass for Migrants, at the Altar of the Chair, in St. Peter’s Basilica on Friday, July 6, at 11 a.m, announced Director of the Holy See Press Office, Greg Burke, in a statement this morning.
The Mass coincides with the fifth anniversary of the visit of Pope Francis to Lampedusa on July 8, 2013.
According to the statement, the Mass will be a time of prayer for the dead, for the survivors and for those who assist them. Approximately 200 people are expected, including refugees and caregivers.
While always free, participation is reserved for those with tickets.
