Kasana-Luweero Diocese is one of the Ecclesiastical Provinces of Kampala Archdiocese. The ordination was officiated by Bishop Paul Ssemogerere the Ordinary of Kasana-Luweero Diocese. The ordination of these six (6) deacons brings the number of Priests who are natives to 53 now. Bishop Ssemogerere said that Kasana-Luweero being a new diocese, had few priests who are natives of the area. Most of the priests who are working in the diocese are foreign missionaries.
“However, we thank God for increasing the numbers of native priests”. He said, he was proud to have Deacon John Bosco Lugonja, one of the ‘Pioneers’ of St. Kizito Minor Seminary, Nandere being ordained, the only Seminary in the Diocese started by Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, when he was the Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese in 1996. “We are happy because our seminary has started yielding fruits. We pray that the seminary produces more priests in the future”.
Other deacons ordained Priests are: Rev. Frs. Deogratias Ssemaluulu, Frank Mutebi, Bernard Bob Lukwago, John-Mary Lukwago and Boniface Ssenteza. The Bishop also called upon the Parents from Luweero and the neighbouring areas to utilize the seminary and send their sons to serve God.
