 Malawi Donates Surplus Food
MALAWI found itself in a world of
agricultural plenty after doing
the opposite of what the World
Bank advised and subsidizing fertilizer.
In 2002 a drought hit Malawi urgently
needed food aid to avoid disaster; in
2008, it was able to sell some of its
surplus grain and also donate food
aid to neigbouring countries. The 2002
drought left approximately five million
people - out of its 12m population in
need of food aid. More>>

the diocese, in western Uganda. In
