The youth have a lot of energy, splendid health and several gifts which if well identified and properly utilized can easily transform our world into a better place to live in. The youth are folks of amazing potential. If the said potential is not tapped well, I am afraid they can fall prey to all kinds of people with bad motives.
When this occurs unfortunately, the youth end up making wrong choices and consequently messing up their precious sacred lives. Because the youth are at crossroads being bombarded all the time by different and at times opposing philosophies, ideologies, choices and ideas, they need the guidance and counselling of the responsible adults so as to make well informed decisions.
Precisely and specifically, the parents, guardians and significant others have to become their role models, setting them good examples to emulate. Once this is done, the youth discover their gifts and talents, and they will later feel challenged to develop them through serving their respective communities. They will find it easy to follow their good examples and in so doing bring about the positive, fundamental badly needed change in their own lives, country and the world.
Our beloved youth are in a dire need of spiritual, emotional, social and physical support. If they don’t get it from their parents or guardians, they look for it from wrong people and end up getting spoilt!!’They have to get it by hook or crook!! When responsible adults fulfil their God given responsibilities of journeying with their youth, helping them out on meeting problems, the going for the youth becomes manageable. Currently, the stress caused by Covid-19, not to mention the politicking going on have not spared the youth. The two have swept them off their feet!! Our guidance correction to them is badly needed.
The religious leaders of all denominations ought in a special way perhaps through workshops, seminars, bible studies and prayer groups to invite and engage the youth. The youth need to be encouraged to witness Christ powerfully at all times and in all places, doing simple things like wearing and praying the rosary, reading prayerfully the Bible, Koran for Muslims, collecting firewood, fetching water for the elderly, disabled and incapacitated, visiting the sick at home or in the hospitals. In this way, they would unknowingly be living Mathew 25:31-46.
It really breaks my heart to see several youth being brainwashed, corrupted, misled, and confused by adults who should know better. Concretely, the youth need to live Christ like lives by distancing themselves or refraining from idleness; sex; loitering; drugs; gambling; drinking alcohol; smoking; night discos; dressing indecently; playing pool, ludo and cards among other undesirable things. These bad practices challenge us the responsible adults to join government to create jobs for our own youth let alone to train them to become job creators.
As I wind up, let me advise the youth to always be optimistic, confident, thinking big and positively. Fear not to live and practice your faith. Jesus Christ loves and needs you; so do we. Among other things, I promise you, my special prayers for you are the leaders in various sectors of tomorrow. Resist being used by selfish people who are out there to manipulate you so as to achieve their selfish goals.
I commend you to the good Lord besides covering you with his precious blood, to hide you in his mantle and through you to reach out to the voiceless, marginalized and forgotten of our time. Let every breath you take in remind you of Jesus’ love and presence in your lives.
YES, you are youth for Christ and His alone. Continue fighting for his cause and may he will always reign in your lives. As temples of the Holy Spirit, remain as such no matter what!!
