According to the records, there are over 900,000 EU national children in the UK who are being required to prove that they have the right to stay in the UK after Brexit to avoid becoming ‘undocumented’ on 1st July 2021. Many of these innocent children are our friends and neighbours, some of whom were born here to EU nationals, and others who just came to the UK. You can imagine the pressure the families are going through in order to meet the July deadline.
Children having to worry if their parents will meet the government set deadline of July 2021. This affects children’s education even more as they get stressed about learning, getting good grades and their future in this country that they call their home.
I have always wanted to go to France for my dream holiday but since the UK is out of EU, I am not sure if I will ever get to go there. I am sure there must be restrictions now, maybe I will need a visa which wasn’t the case before because there was free movement of people within the European Union Member States.
However, a trip to France is still my dream holiday and will always be and I will try to find what I need in order for me to achieve my dream. My brother, Ian’s school residential trip was to France and since then, I have fallen in love with all of the stories he has told me about this country and I can’t wait to visit.
When it comes to education and work, EU citizens were allowed to come to the UK to study as well as work.
Equally, British citizens used to go to other EU countries for study and work purposes because there was free movement of people within the EU member states. In my opinion, I think that the arrangement before was better and much easier for everyone in Europe. But now, it will be way more difficult for everyone, including children.
This is not fair because children didn’t have the right to vote so decisions were made by older people on behalf of everyone including children. If for example I had a right to vote during the EU Referendum, I would have voted to remain in the EU because of the reasons stated in this article.
