Five novices of the Comboni Missionary Sisters professed their first vows at Namugongo Spirituality centre on September 14th, which also marked the feast of the exaltation of the cross. The theme of the day was; “Go into the world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).” The five novices included: Kujiha Monica Ali Belli, Agnes Katulo Nunsa, Anastasia Mutegesa, Lutukei Felista and Acayo Fiona. The Provincial Superior of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus (MCCJ), Fr Achilles Kiwanuka who was the main celebrant advised the newly professed sisters to be humble, obedient and to always look at the level of their humility in order to allow the cross and Jesus in their lives. “You will save nobody if you are not humble, it’s only when you adopt the humility of Christ,” Fr Achilles advised.
The Provincial Superior also added that the cross is about obedience in every situation that God gives us and that it is the right foundation of every Christian’s life. He noted that God hates pride, arrogance and people who exalt themselves. He continued to explain that without humility, it’s hard to have the cross. He therefore, called upon the sisters to humble themselves as disciples of God and that the only way they can know that they are on God’s way is through Obedience.
The Comboni Missionary sisters Provincial Superior, Sr. Luigina Frison noted that there have been candidates professing every year on the same feast day. She was happy with the newly professed members of the community as they join the celebrations to mark 150 years of existence since the congregation was founded.
Two sisters, Sr. Polline Asikuru and Sr. Antoinette Musayi renewed their vows while three sisters: Sr. Thorach Paula, Sr. Limio Laurence and Sr. Ajio Joyce celebrated 25 years as Comboni missionary sisters and thus renewed their commitment to the congregation.
