Chapati, a popular flat bread, combined with a hearty chicken stew, creates a delicious and nutritious meal that satisfies both the taste buds and the body’s nutritional needs. This recipe incorporates whole wheat flour, lean chicken and an assortment of vegetables, to provide a well-rounded balance of essential nutrients. Chapati offers a good source of carbohydrates, dietary fibre and B vitamins, while the chicken stew supplies high-quality protein, vitamins and minerals from the vegetables. For the Chapati
Ingredients
• 2 cups whole wheat flour
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ onion, finely grated
• Warm water (as needed)
• 2 tablespoons, Oil or ghee to add
to the dough and a little extra for frying
Instructions
• In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt.
• Gradually add warm water while kneading the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
• Cover the dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
• Divide the dough into small, equal sized balls.
• Roll each ball into a thin round shape using a rolling pin and dusting with flour, whenever needed.
• Heat a flat pan over medium heat and cook each chapati with a little oil or ghee until golden brown spots appear on both sides.
• Set aside the cooked chapatis and keep them warm.
FOR THE CHICKEN STEW
• 500 grams of boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
• 2 tablespoons oil
• 1 onion, finely chopped
• 2 cloves of garlic, minced
• 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
• 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
• 1 teaspoon cumin powder
• 1 teaspoon coriander powder
• ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
